Summer Texas State Road Trip Part II Padre Island National Seashore – August 2019

The following day we headed to Padre Island National Seashore so Madison could complete a couple of Junior Ranger badges.

We walked along the seashore and picked up trash along the way. It’s mind-blowing how much is left on the beach, from fishing lines to pop cans and more.

We enjoyed soaking in the sun and the ocean.

And then Madison completed her badges. It’s funny they always say raise your right hand…and she’s left-handed, so the left hand always pops up first, and then she figures it out. Lol

After that, we decided to drive back to Corpus Cristi and catch a jetty to San Jose Island. The island is about 21 miles long and 5 miles wide. There were only a couple of other people there, so it was like having your own personal island.

Madison made a sand turtle.

She also got a little too much sun. 😦

When we got back to the hotel, I saw that they would have the last turtle release of the season the next morning. This had been on my bucket list for a couple of years, and I was praying they would have one while we were still there. You can’t really plan when turtles will hatch and be ready, but it all worked out. To say I was excited was an understatement!!!
